Message to parents
In these unique and uncertain times, our absolute priority is the health and well-being of our pupils, their families and our staff. As always, we thank you for your support as we continue to tackle the ever-changing situation.
All children were sent home with some resources at the time of closure but in addition to this we are putting in place different resources as outlined below:
The children in Polurrian Class have logins for Times Tables Rockstars and IXL (IXL can be used for English and maths skills). They were also sent home with a book and instructions for using the Pobble 365 website- this is fantastic as a talking point but also to develop writing fluency and help with grammar and punctuation skills. The instruction sheet will be in the folder on the website.
Children in Poldhu Class have logins for Reading Eggs, RM Easimaths and Times Tables Rockstars.
EYFS Parents please add photos and comments to the Tapestry learning journal for your child each day. Mrs Hesselbo will then reply with comments and next steps for their individual learning.
We are providing suggestions of home learning activities whilst the school is not open. These will be designed to cover a range of activities, including physical exercise suggestions, in addition to core subjects. This will be uploaded to the school website in your child’s Year group folder and to their Showbie account every Monday. These overviews will be clearly labelled with the date for the corresponding Monday. It will contain links to online resources as well as activities that do not require the use of internet.
Please encourage your child to upload any completed work, take a picture and add to Showbie, so that their class teacher can give them feedback. EYFS children can share their work on Tapestry.
We cannot emphasise enough the importance of reading. Sharing books with your child, unpicking new words, talking about what words mean, talking about the story and asking them questions about the text is invaluable. On the website are links to free online books if you are needing new things to read.
A list of suggested websites to support your child’s learning are also listed on the school website. Please utilise these as appropriate to your child’s individual needs.
We will monitor this situation as it evolves and communicate accordingly. Please look out for any communications including phone calls from your child’s class teacher.
Once again, we thank you for your continued support during this unprecedented and uncertain time and if you require any information or support please contact your child's teacher.
With kindest regards
The Cury Team
